Changes we saw
On my trip to I've saw mutilpel changes in the area such as dirt patches the was at one point veagtation strong trees broken and dead also three feet deep river now fou r feet deep theses changes are casue by many thing mainly storms the runoff from the rain can casue elavation in the river. Once the river elavated to surface level of the land peices of land brakes off falling in the water cause what we know as erosion .the broken trees and be cause by beavers or lighting strikes and to small thin weak trees harsh winds can brak them and kill them . And those are the changes of of park .

the history we found in the Temple area!!!
It was hot but worthwhile. Yesterday we walked around North Philly and looked at four important landmarks: The Church of the Advocate, The Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC), Jessie Redmon Fauset's Philadelphia Home, and the Universal Negro Improvement Association. Some information about each landmark is listed below.
The Church Of The Advocate was the first Episcopal Church in the world to ordain women. It was built as a memorial for civil rights leader George W. South. It was the site of several significant events of the Civil Rights movement, including the National Conference of Black Power (1968), the Black Panther Conference (1970), and the first ordination of women in the Episcopal Church (1974).
OIC, or OICA (OIC of America), was founded by Reverend Doctor Leon H. Sullivan. It is a national non-profit organization focused on helping poor and unemployed citizens realize their true potential through employment and training centers. The first OIC training center was located in an abandoned jailhouse in North Philadelphia, which was later renovated thanks to generous donations from the community and anonymous contributors.
Jessie Redmon Fauset went to Philadephia High School for Girls and graduated as the only African-American in her class. After graduating from Cornell University, Fauset went to work for the NAACP's journal The Crisis, as the literary editor under W.E.B. DuBois. At the end of her editing career, 58 of her 77 published works appeared first in The Crisis. Eventually Fauset came back to Philadelphia and lived out the rest of her life here until she died from a heart attack in 1961.
Marcus Garvey, founder of the UNIA, was born in St. Ann's Bay, Jamaica on August 17, 1887. He founded the first UNIA in Jamaica in 1911, and the first branch in the United States in New York 1917. He believed that all races should live in their native countries. (Asians live in Asia, Africans live in Africa, and so on.)

the wordl of google earth
With google earth we can view cities, countries and states from a bird's eye view. This is important because we can view areas we never visted and get an idea of how people live which can be very interesting. We can also compare the images from Google Earth with current photos of a specific area to see how that area has change over a period of time.
Our best week for me
Monday: Preparing for the TripOn Monday we worked on our group blog as well as our houses in Google Sketchup. The designs of our houses are coming along very nicely. Soon they'll be looking pretty fly. We also went in the building for liberal arts with Lamessa to learn about what we'll be doing tomorrow. He told us that as we walk through the park to study our surroundings and see the different type of geography there is.
Tuesday: Wissahickon Park, Day OneTuesday was the first day that we went to the Wissahickon Park and it was pretty fun. Kevin (our guide from Friends Of The Wissahickon) came and led us down the path of the park that ran along Lincoln Drive. We walked all the way down until we got to Forbidden Drive and turned around to head back. Once we stopped at the Drive (Forbidden) we learned about the Ten Box Shelter. It used to be a stop for travellers walking along the park's trails. Built in 1940, by the Works Progress Administration (WPA), this shelter served as a guard station also providing travellers with restrooms and concession stands. Ten Box got its name a long time ago as well. Park guards used to use a telephone line that ran along Forbidden Drive. The line consisted of ten locked phone boxes, with the tenth one being at this shelter. The line is gone, but the name "Ten Box" still exists for this local landmark.
Wednesday: When the Levees BrokeOn Wednesday we watched the movie When The Levees Broke, a movie directed by Spike Lee. The movie was a documentary on the experiences of New Orleans natives before, during, and after Hurricane Katrina. It was a very emotional movie, not to mention very long. We didn't even finish half of the movie and we watched it for about 2 hours! After watching a portion of the movie, Laura told us about a group of kids in Brooklyn who created a website and a game about a girl during the storm trying to find her mother, called Tempest In Crescent City. We found it to be a pretty fun game, not to mention informational. Through every level it gave tidbits of information of what was happening during the week of the storm. If you want to learn more about theses kids from Brooklyn, their cause, or even play their game, then click here to go to their website: http://tempestincrescentcity.ning.com/
Thursday: Wissahickon Park, Day TwoOn Thursday, Day Two of our Wissachickon trip, we went the direction opposite from the trail we took on Tuesday. We went up along Kelly Drive until we got to the East Falls Bridge, and then turned around to head back. Because this part of the park isn't a forest like the path along Lincoln Drive, there was barely any erosion along this path, fortunately. Erosion is the condition in which the Earth's surface is worn away by water and wind. Erosion wears away the ground and soil, killing the vegetation surrounding it. One job of the Friends Of The Wissahickon is to reduce the amount of erosion that happens in the park.
Friday: Chill Time Today we just relaxed in the computer room. With the eventful week that we had, is was good to be able to rest for once!

t\The warriors input on the Schuykill River
While walking thought the park yesterday we learned about the five different species of fish that live in the water. The five were the American Shade, Channel Catfish, Yellow Perch, Small-Mouth Bass, and the Common Carp. The American Shade has a lower jaw with pointed tips that is V-shaped in the upper jaw. It has greenish blue scales with silvery sides. The Channel Catfish is the greatest populated species of catfish. The easiest methods of capturing this type of fish are using Crickets, Shads, Frogs, Crawfish as bait. Its upper jaw projects farther out beyond the lower jaw. The Yellow Perch is pale and has yellowish scales. Its lifespan is up to 11 years and reaches sexual maturity at 1 to 3 years of age for males and 2 to 3 years of age for females. The Small-Mouth Bass have greenish scales with dark vertical bands on their sides. The Common Carp is a heavy-bodied minnow with barbels on both side of the upper jaw. It has a lifespan of over 47 years and can weigh up to 75 pounds.
The warriors post on wissahickon park
Yesterday was EXTREMELY hot. It probably wasn't the best day to go because of the heat, but we did anyway. Instead of walking along the bike path we went up the Lincoln Drive trail through the forest. It was rocky, muddy, it had A LOT of worms along the ground and it was very uneven, just like the conditions of any trail in a park. There weren't that many signs along the trail; in the beginning when we started on the trail the sign for the trail said it's help locator was the number "100". Along the way we came across a sign describing the "Hermit's Cave", a sign for a memorial that said "Wishin' I Was Fishin'", as well as various marks on trees that showed the specific path we were on. (Green and yellow rectangles). The landmarks that we saw - the Hermit's Cave, the memorial, Lover's Leap, the Golf Course, and the bridge above Lincoln Drive - were all very interesting to learn about. The cave in particular was very intriguing; it was built by a man named Johannes Kelpius who believed the world would soon come to an end. He built this cave as a shelter to protect himself from this alleged "Judgement Day".One thing that could have improved the trails would be more signage. The trail branched off into many paths, making it confusing to know exactly where you are and possibly how to get back. If there was more signage up in the forest, it would be a little easier to navigate through the woods. Another way to improve the trails is to add trash receptacles. Walking along the trail, we found no trash cans along the way. Carrying trash for a long period of time can be very annoying, which can cause people to litter. If there were trash cans strategically placed throughout the trails, people would be less likely to litter, keeping the forest clean.

Pirates
In the news lately there have been a huge aamount of information on these Siomlian pirates. That steal ship and hold sailors for randsom. An they make these people out like as if these bad people in many ways. But the thing that is wrong is that they the media is not giving us the people all the facts.
What the did not tell was that these pirates are actually victims of pure selfishness. These pirates so dis peak are victim of pollution and starvation. These pirates land was polluted with toxic wast that killed their people. They also were robbed of all their food resources (mainly fish)by industrial fish companies. These pirates were just giving back what they believe was theirs. Taking over ships. And holding sailors for random. Are all precaution taken to get money and bring it back to their people.
The media sometimes tell you half the story when it more to it. They did not tell you that the actions of Europeans. And selfish way is what made these pirates act this way.I for one believe all precaution taken by their hand is all necessary, because what goes around come around.

We always had soul
The historic African experience influenced field songs like wad in the water. These was used to tell people the best way to escape the hunters was by wading in the water. This encouraged their spirits to get through the pain and suffering . Also their strive to get away and fight back.
These field songs was turn in to gospel from the force of religion one Africans. So instead of just hoping things would change they prayed to god and Jesus to save them in their time of need. Later on these gospel songs turn to blues, telling the world about your problems and love life.
These section of songs were built off of each other. Blues was turned in to jazz. Jazz is a more up tempo form of blues ,but jazz talks about a different way of love the form ofpositive love. Jazz is more of dancing music rather than blues which is slow and usually low tempo beat.
Rock and roll was a more regular tempo and a little loud, but very dance able. This type of music was based on love life and problem. A mixture of blues and jazz it was. Rock in roll can be influenced by people, loved ones or even racism. R and B is similar but much softer and mostly about love and heart break. Some times R and B can be about the wrongs in the world that have been done. And it has aregular tempo beat to it.
I have learned that African people made music. And my ancestors brought music to this country. An in this country we were looked down on. To the point things have been taken from us like our music, names, religion, language and culture. I have also learned that even in the music business their was deceit. Like the theft on of songs like tuttie fruittie made by little richard and hound dog by big mama thorton stolen by the same person Elvis Presly. But through all the pain and deceit we still carried on and will still carry on.

Stress is a state of mind were your is working too hard which sometimes cause unusual behavior. Somethings that causes stress is loud nosies and disobedience. Sometimes to handle stress is to get away from it and claim down. Away of releasing stress negatively, are by fighting or the abuse of drugs. Curiosity of grades caution what is to come in life in high school. Per pressure is a big stress maker in the teen years and between boys and girls. Their are many way to receive stress. Stress come in many ways positive and negative. From ages five and up to how ever long you live.
When you are five through eleven a great amount of stress will come upon you. For example the harder work in school you will experience in your success to a higher grade . Fighting with bully's and many other things like that could causes stress . During these years your mind is mostly on one thing how to get life back to getting baby fed again. And life will become stressful when you must get things for your self. Also its get even more stressful when your parents leave you to walk independently not as independent as a young adult like eighteen but, enough to show you that you will not get babied anymore. Although this sounds bad but you will experience positive stress like excise when you wish to become a fit young person when are older or train for a career you wish to pursuit such as boxing or dancing.
Between the ages twelve and sixteen the amount stress will double. During these ages your faced with many things such as puberty and and parent stress. When first stated you will experience puberty is a period of becoming of age were you will break out in bumps on your face and many embarrassing things like the changing of tone in voice and the stress will become very over whelming for the wanting of cream that is very high priced to receive for your face. Also you would have the stress of parents. Your parents will talking to you about when are you start washing your clothes or to get a job an even get your permit to drive. In all this stress there is is positive stress like practicing your driving to get you license or the search of clothe when washing them.
From seventeen to twenty-five the amount of stress triples you are excepted to get a job and move out of your parents home and find your own place to live. And get a job to feed your self . Also in these years of age you must make a choice to go to collage or find work and do what he can to survive. You must pay bills to keep your home in the best shape it can be in. Another big problem that would cause major stress is having kids. Raising children are a major cause of stress. Even in the darkest clouds there is light. With all this negative stress their is positive stress like working overtime. The effects of overtime can put more money in your pocket for fun or the stress of delaying gratification to buy what you want.
From your prime years of twenties become thirty and forty their is where your stress sky rockets. This is the period were your body is not what it once was . Which means as you get hurt your body will not heal as fast as it would. Which could cause great amount of stress because bill from doctors and days of of work that you would have to make up. An also your body can be exsposed to more sicknesses. Which you could lose more money from paying the hospiutial bills .An even though the stress increase so does the positive stress, like the stress of keeping a diet to stay heatlhy. Or even the stress of worjing and saving money for your retirement .
Their are many effects of stress in life positive and negative but the key thing is to learn how to release it in a constructive way

Talking equality
The article I have read really spoke the true about the African American children society. By letting people no that some of the children that America looks down on are making a mockery of them selves. From lack of hard work ,discipline and common sense. An I'm glad that someone was to come and speak on this problem. I believe that this information is true an as sad as it seems, because their have been many times I have went in a class room and saw the African American males playing in classroom. I my self are not one of these children who thinks that school is just another playground. I'm proud to say that this article inspired me to be even better than my usual status. This article is very informing and an encouragement to me. I'm hoping that their will be more articles to tell me and others on the overall status on the different races achievements to inspire not only me, but other to better their selves and hopefully increase their test scores to increase our percentage of succeeding scholars.

The Obama and Black Caucus
1. The black caucus is a organization that cares about the African American community.
This organization are made up of African American citizens that are concerned with the black community. This organization was formed in the 1970.The black caucus or the BCALA, the Black Caucus American Library Association have had many meetings with the president before with former president George bush. Actually this organization met with George Bush three times in eight years. Unfortunately George was not on the same page as the BCALA.
2. 3.The nature of this meeting was for Obama to hear some of the problems of the lower class African American citizens . Also this meeting was for Obama to hear some of the conflicts that many African Americans. Like health care and civil rights the BCALA also are concerned with foreign rights too.
4. The black caucus would like Obama to taken many issues. Such as civil rights like some of the acts Obama are doing now. Also judicial nomination and taxes economy. And these are just some of the many issues that are brought to Obama's eye's.
5. I think that the relationship is a very strong friend bond. I believe that maybe that Obama can see were they are coming from and understand them. I would like to hope that Obama appreciates their care for the organizations concerns and considers them.

Teachers Essay
Greeting to the new teacher of social studies of nmtcs. You may not know me ,but I have a few tips for you to use to have a productive trimester with me. Like different tips to help you keep me focused and pay attention in the classroom. An even possibly obtain a friendship with you.
One of some of the traits that teachers have that causes me to loose focus in class is the tone of the teachers voice . The tone of the speaker or teachers voice is very crucial. For the reason that is, a heavy tone or just the inflation of the tone can draw my attention. A flat tone of the voice is very boring looses my attention very fast. In some cases a flat toned voice could result in a remembering looses of the lesson. Just the simple change of the tone can keep me focus and read for the next lesson.
Also one of the things that many teachers do that case a lot of problems.
Is the great amount of money that some give in the small amount of days to do it in. When my brain is overwhelming with large amount of work I receive headaches. These headaches last about three to four days during this period I'm to rest it off which pulls me away from my work. This act cases me to fall behind in class and endangers me of failing. It would be most gracious if you did not put a lot pressure on your students.
A great tip on how to have a great trimester with me is pep talk .The positive energy and the sound of saying great job inspire me to do better. These comment shows me that what I'm doing is right and to take the next step. Many teachers try this to encourage the students to do better and its very encouraging to me.
Thank you for choosing new media as your next job.If you choose to follow these tips we will have a very positive trimester. And possibly we could become friends.I look forward to seeing you soon. Thanks a again for reading this bye.

Stimulus package
1. The stimulus package is a bill written by president Obama, to stimulate the economy
meaning to balance the economy out and keep from going in to another great depression. Over the years the economy of the U.S.A has been dropping . From the foolish acts of the United States former president George Bush by only helping the wealthy instead of the poor. The reason for this package is to get the economy out the state of recession which is that state that that our economy is in now. This package will keep the economy away from another great depression like the one after world war 1.
2. Their were many agreements and disagreements during this conference of the stimulus package. One agreement on this that this package is that Obama's plan, sounds promising and could possibly be the plan that could work . Also this package could bring employment rate higher than it is now. One of the disagreements
is that this is great amount of money is way to much to risk loosing . And many of the politicians are wondering how was he planing to get all of the money.
3. The spending details in the stimulus package is 275 billion in tax relief. The money will be spent by businesses receiving bonuses for new plants and equipment. Since this money is being given back to the low budget businesses. This package will give money back to the businesses that had to make cuts on employees.
4. Some areas Obama emphasized on the video were, the result of this package and how it will save jobs. He said that he realized this package is a lot of money to ask for. And that many of the politicians don't agree but he believe this plan will work. An throughout the videos he states that this should be done, because this is a plan that could save the economy and stop it from getting worst and in a simple way he is stating this package is a plan that work and its better to have a plan that could work than not have a plan at all.
5. I feel this package will help African American by helping them get out of lower middle class to middle class . For the fact that there are many African American people in lower
or lower middle class. Also I do believe that racism and gender bias will make a difference that many people believe that a man is a provider and a woman should not need that much money.
And there will always be some one who believes that some one is inferior to someone less.

Great Idea!!!
My name is Shavon Ned I am the parent of Evan Ned. I think this was a wonderful idea . It allowed the children to share their ancestry with others while also showing their creative side. I think this was a very innovative idea of allowing the children to think for themselves and to research their ancestry. I also liked the concept of analyzing the songs. These projects and others like them will help Evan to develop excellent writing and creative skills. Thank you Mothuri Mukasi for challenging my son and the other children in this class. I look forward to reviewing his blog on a regular basis.
Thank you,
Mrs. Shavon Ned

Obama's way

My feeling on Obama's motions is that I agree with some things and others I don't.
Like woman getting payed less money from their jobs ,because of their sex.
Women should be payed the same amount of money that a men would get for
doing the same job in the same time that it is done in. For the fact that women
are the back bone of this country with out them, human life will cease to exist. Also
that a women face the same problems men do in the business world and to give
them a lack of money for their gender is just barbaric. Now on Obama's belief on gay
benefits I have to disagree, I don't believe that a man or woman should get benefits
because, their gay. I mean what about the non-gay citizens will they get benefit when
married. It seem like he is saying that since you are gay here is money. How ever I do
believe that gay people should be able to get married for the fact that love is a
powerful thing and can not be controlled. Who are we to tell anyone who to get
married to. An even though I'm not gay my self . I do believe gays should get married
but, gay benefits no I have to disagree.

Good lyrics
LUPE FIASCO LYRICS

"Kick Push"
[Intro]
Uh, what up ya'll
Soundtrack what's poppin' baby
Ya'll ain't know
I go by the name of
Lupe Fiasco
Representin' that 1st & 15
Yea
And this one right here
I dedicate this one right here
To all my homies out there grindin' (ya know what I'm saying)
Legally and Illegally
Ha
You know what I'm talkin' 'bout
So, check it out
[Verse 1]
First got it when he was six
Didn't know any tricks
Matter fact
First time he got on it he slipped
Landed on his hip and bust his lip
For a week he had to talk with a lisp
Like this
Now we can end the story right here
But shorty didn't quit it was something in the air
Yea
He said it was somethin' so appealing
He couldn't fight the feelin'
Somethin' about it
He knew he couldn't doubt it
Couldn't understand it
Brand it, since his first kickflip he land it
Uh
Labeled a misfit, abandoned
Ca-kunk, ca-kunk, kunk
His neighbors couldn't stand it, so
He was banished to the park
Started in the morning wouldn't stop till after dark
Yea
When he said it's getting late in here
So "I'm sorry young man there's no skating here"
[Chorus]
So we Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Coast
And the way he roll just a rebel to the world with no place to go
So we Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Coast
So come and skate with me, just a rebel looking for a place to be
So let's Kick, and Push, and Coast
[Verse 2]
Uh, uh ,uh
My man got a lil older became a better roller (yea)
No helmet, hellbent on killin' himself, was what his momma said
But he was feelin' himself
Got a lil more swagger in his style
Met his girlfriend, she was clappin' in the crowd
Love is what was happening to him now, uh
He said I would marry you but I'm engaged to these aerials and varials
And I don't think this board is strong enough to carry 2
She said bow I weigh 120 pounds, now
Lemme make one thing clear
I don't need to ride yours I got mine right here
So she took him to a spot
He didn't know about
Somewhere in the apartment parking lot, she said
I don't normally take dates in here
Security came and said "I'm sorry there's no skating here"
[Chorus]
So they Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Coast
And the way they roll just lovers in the twine with no place to go
So they Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Coast
So come and skate with me, just a rebel looking for a place to be
So let's Kick, (uh uh) and Push, (yea yea) and Coast
[Verse 3]
Yea uh, yea, yea
Before he knew he had a crew
That weren't no punk
In they Spitfire shirts and SB Dunks
They would Push, till they couldn't skate no more
Office building, lobbies weren't safe no more
And it wasn't like they weren't getting chased no more
Just the freedom is better than breathing they said (they said)
And they escape route, they used to escape out
When things got crazy they needed to break out (they'd head)
To any place with stairs, any good grinds the world was theirs, uh
And they four wheels would take them there
Till the cops came and said "There's no skating here"
[Chorus]
So they Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Coast
And the way they roll just a rebels without a cause with no place to go
So they Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Coast
So come roll with me, just a rebel looking for a place to be
So let's Kick, (uh uh) and Push, (yea yea) and Coast

[Intro]
Uh, what up ya'll
Soundtrack what's poppin' baby
Ya'll ain't know
I go by the name of
Lupe Fiasco
Representin' that 1st & 15
Yea
And this one right here
I dedicate this one right here
To all my homies out there grindin' (ya know what I'm saying)
Legally and Illegally
Ha
You know what I'm talkin' 'bout
So, check it out
[Verse 1]
First got it when he was six
Didn't know any tricks
Matter fact
First time he got on it he slipped
Landed on his hip and bust his lip
For a week he had to talk with a lisp
Like this
Now we can end the story right here
But shorty didn't quit it was something in the air
Yea
He said it was somethin' so appealing
He couldn't fight the feelin'
Somethin' about it
He knew he couldn't doubt it
Couldn't understand it
Brand it, since his first kickflip he land it
Uh
Labeled a misfit, abandoned
Ca-kunk, ca-kunk, kunk
His neighbors couldn't stand it, so
He was banished to the park
Started in the morning wouldn't stop till after dark
Yea
When he said it's getting late in here
So "I'm sorry young man there's no skating here"
[Chorus]
So we Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Coast
And the way he roll just a rebel to the world with no place to go
So we Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Coast
So come and skate with me, just a rebel looking for a place to be
So let's Kick, and Push, and Coast
[Verse 2]
Uh, uh ,uh
My man got a lil older became a better roller (yea)
No helmet, hellbent on killin' himself, was what his momma said
But he was feelin' himself
Got a lil more swagger in his style
Met his girlfriend, she was clappin' in the crowd
Love is what was happening to him now, uh
He said I would marry you but I'm engaged to these aerials and varials
And I don't think this board is strong enough to carry 2
She said bow I weigh 120 pounds, now
Lemme make one thing clear
I don't need to ride yours I got mine right here
So she took him to a spot
He didn't know about
Somewhere in the apartment parking lot, she said
I don't normally take dates in here
Security came and said "I'm sorry there's no skating here"
[Chorus]
So they Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Coast
And the way they roll just lovers in the twine with no place to go
So they Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Coast
So come and skate with me, just a rebel looking for a place to be
So let's Kick, (uh uh) and Push, (yea yea) and Coast
[Verse 3]
Yea uh, yea, yea
Before he knew he had a crew
That weren't no punk
In they Spitfire shirts and SB Dunks
They would Push, till they couldn't skate no more
Office building, lobbies weren't safe no more
And it wasn't like they weren't getting chased no more
Just the freedom is better than breathing they said (they said)
And they escape route, they used to escape out
When things got crazy they needed to break out (they'd head)
To any place with stairs, any good grinds the world was theirs, uh
And they four wheels would take them there
Till the cops came and said "There's no skating here"
[Chorus]
So they Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Coast
And the way they roll just a rebels without a cause with no place to go
So they Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Coast
So come roll with me, just a rebel looking for a place to be
So let's Kick, (uh uh) and Push, (yea yea) and Coast
The lyrics reflection
When I first heard this song I loved it ,but after reading
and listening to to the song I was surprised. At the amount of dialogue that
starts to sound like some of the lyrics that I hate like "No respect squeeze off til all y'all diminish shoot out for twenty minutes, until we finish Venius took the loot, escaped in the coupe."I hate lyrics like that and "I'm a son of Satan". In my eyes its like you worship the devil. I believe its the wrong message to the youth. An I believe that its not a good song for me a coming from a man I once came to respect. But one song I do like is Lupe fiasco's kick push it shows that times get rough ,but in time things would get better. I think it shows how to never give up and keep on keeping on .
